Many of us use the terms "billiards" and "pool" interchangeably, but there are actually some key distinctions! Here's a quick breakdown:

Billiards: The broadest term, referring to any game played with cue sticks and balls on a table. Pool and snooker are both types of billiards.

Pool: The most common type in the US. Played with 16 balls (1 white cue ball, plus 15 colored and numbered balls). Goal is to pocket your type of ball (solids or stripes) then the black 8-ball.

Snooker: More complex than pool. Uses smaller balls and a larger table. Players score points by potting reds, then a colored ball, in sequence.
